Checking online stats has a way of subtly wearing me down — an emotional dip and it saps energy from writing. A quick glance is okay but think of all the places we can check stats — here, blogs for clients, books we sell on Amazon. It can take a half hour to a few hours in a week easily. It can be a trap.
