The first articles I wrote on Medium were in 2016 for a cosmetic dentist who was a client of mine and I wrote blogs for him through his marketing guy. I interviewed him once on an article about flossing — it might be in my back list here. A story via AP came out debunking flossing. He stated that flossing is beneficial for many people but not for others and the width of space between the teeth was one variable.

More than 10 years ago, my gums were inflamed and bleeding easily. I went to a periodontist and I started flossing regularly in addition to changing my brushing habits. My general dentist warned me that I might need gum surgery but I credit flossing for saving me from the procedure.

Personal health care is not an exact science and not everyone needs to floss but many benefit from the practice. I did.
