You've raised an important consideration. There are a number of audiences who would like to have personal stories like this--parents of teens needing hope (my struggles with teens and where they are now); parents who get blamed for their child's behavior; youth workers of various types ... in this case it's what it takes to keep a relationship. Our child had reactive attachment disorder and came to us at age 7 ... typical parenting strategies didn't work for us.
